NEW! Sketching and Drawing w/ Olivia Benish Chaffee, March 5-26 (4 sessions)
Description:
Over the course of four weeks, you’ll have the opportunity to experiment with a wide range of drawing materials, from graphite and charcoal to conte and ink. We’ll focus on developing your personal style through expressive mark-making and observation-based exercises. Drawing from still life will be central to our practice, with occasional reference to photographs to support your learning. Instruction will be tailored to meet each participant's individual goals and needs.
By the end of the course, you’ll walk away with greater confidence in your drawing abilities and at least three finished drawings. This course is designed for both beginner and intermediate students, including high school-aged participants. No prior drawing experience is necessary—just a passion for learning and a desire to explore the world of drawing!
Wednesdays, March 5,12,19 & 16 (4 sessions), 5pm-7pm at Jackson Art $225
Cancellation Policy: We ask that you to give us three weeks notice if you need to cancel for a full refund minus a $35 cancellation fee. Cancellations should be made by phone by calling (603) 387-3463. This provides us the opportunity to fill the space. We are sorry, but we cannot give refunds or issue credits for missed classes or no shows.
Materials List:
All of these materials can be found a Michael's or online.
- Drawing Pencil Set: The set should include a variety of pencils in different hardnesses and softnesses—H's & B's. I prefer Blick and Fiber Castell. An "Ebony" Prismacolor pencil is also nice to have.
- Pens - 1-3 Black Micron or Fiber Castell Pens in various sizes
- A black sharpie
- Sketchbook - I prefer Canson XL mixed media paper because it can take ink and watercolor but a lighter-weight paper is also okay.
I will provide newsprint and various other materials to experiment with, such as charcoal, India ink, and toned paper, but feel free to bring these or any other drawing material that excites you or that you want to experiment with!
