NEW! Plein Aire Painting:
THE MOUNTAIN LANDSCAPE
With PETER GRANUCCI
In this weekend workshop, students will enjoy the creative process of setting up an easel outdoors and painting the landscape “en plein aire.” The focus of this class will be on painting the mountain landscape. Students will learn how to distill the important information from their observation and translate it onto the canvas. Peter will address how to create depth, form, and light effects along with lots of other tips for painting outdoors. All this will be taught in an understandable way that will lead students to improve their ability to see the landscape and create a finished painting in a short time. This class is suitable for the beginner student who wants to learn how to paint outdoors and for the advanced student who wants to improve their skills. Students are responsible for their own supplies or contact Jackson Art if you would like them to provide your set up for the weekend. NEW! Color Mixing
With Rebecca Klementovich & Melanie Levitt
Have you ever wanted to be more successful in mixing colors? In this one day workshop, Rebecca & Melanie will lead you through a series of exercises in color mixing and your knowledge of color will grow dramatically in one day. We will focus on projects in color balance, intensity, warm/cool, and complementary colors to help you create more successful paintings. We will also share our secret color combinations we both work use in our own work. We will look at the work of successful colorists such as Rothko, Paul Klee, and Matisse and Josef Albers and match some of their palettes. This class is suitable for the total beginner student who wants to learn more or for the advanced student who wants to expand their knowledge of color mixing to improve their paintings. All supplies are included in this workshop and you will leave with “cheat sheets” to use as a reference for future classes.

(Adults & Kids) Zentangle Initial

In this one day class, students will be introduced to the fun and relaxing doodling process of Zentagle – an engaging art form that uses repetitive patterns to create striking drawings that anyone can achieve! Students will focus on creating their initial with the guidance of the instructor. There will be lots of time for doodling and a final masterpiece will be created . Black ink and watercolors will be used along with high quality paper for the final drawing. All supplies included.

(Adults & Kids) Bird Collage

In this fun one day workshop, students will create a one of a kind bird collage. We will use acrylic paint, colored and patterned papers,modge podge and a quote to make your own unique masterpiece. Students will learn the process of building up a collage in layers working step by step with the instructor’s guidance. Each collage will be unique in color, pattern and design. All supplies included.

(Adults & Kids) Mosaic Fish Plaque

Create your own mosaic fish design on a wooden plaque using broken tiles, glass beads and other small bits.The first class will be design and adhering the tiles. The second class will be grouting and final decorating.Adults and older kids will learn how to use tile cutters to piece together their design. Younger students will use pre-broken pieces.Optional: bring some of your own small bits to personalize your mosaic fish plaque.

This fun one session class will introduce you to creating stretchy beach bracelets.
We will use a variety of recycled glass beads with the addition of charms and tassels.
Color selection and knotting techniques will be covered to create beautiful unique designs.
Cost of class will cover three bracelets. More materials available for purchase from instructor if needed.
Kids 10 and up can attend with a registered adult.
